Copenhagen and more

Are you planning a classic Copenhagen tour with visits to popular attractions as The Little Mermaid, Amalienborg Palace and the Nyhavn waterfront, the hop on hop off-busses run frequently. If you prefer to view Copenhagen from the seaside, taking a Canal Tour is a good alternative. Another popular activity is exploring the city like a native Copenhagener by bike. You can rent bikes from one of the bike rentals in the inner city.

Start your day in Copenhagen’s central inner city with a visit to the historic Round Tower from 1642. From the 360-degree viewing platform, you can enjoy the views over Copenhagen’s roof tops and even view parts of the Swedish coastline. Frederik’s Church, popularly known as The Marble Church, is another popular attraction as well as The Old Stock Exchange building with the iconic dragon-tailed spire.

When it’s time for lunch, beer or a coffee, you have many cozy cafés and restaurants to choose from. The Nyhavn waterfront is both colourful and captivating and the area’s maritime history brings an interesting touch to a well-deserved break. The famous Danish fairytale writer, Hans Christian Andersen, used to live in number 20. While living here, he wrote ‘The Princess and the Pea’, ‘Little Claus and Big Claus’ and ‘The Tinderbox’. So why not walk in his footsteps and enjoy an assortment of Danish smørrebrød while taking in the views of the iconic sight.

Are you interested in what Copenhagen looked like centuries ago, the Gammel Strand-area is interesting. Many of the colourful houses from the 18th Century are protected and you can almost feel the breath of yonder year, while walking down the cobblestoned streets of Magstræde and Snaregade. You can find Copenhagen’s oldest street door from the 1730s in Magstræde 3, so keep your eyes open if you’re visiting the area.
