Today Kronborg is one of Northern Europe’s most important Renaissance castles and even if you are not interested in architecture, it is interesting to see the castle’s old spiral staircases and peculiar nooks. If you take a walk down the castle’s casemates, you will find the statue of the sleeping Viking, Ogier the Dane, who, according to old legend, will wake up the day Denmark needs help. In short, Elsinore has plenty of interesting history and you can easily imagine the dramas of the past that have played out in the castle.

If you are into hiking, the Jægersborg Deer Park, which is part of UNESCO’s world heritage, is practically in our backyard. Spot the deer and if you’re lucky, you may be able to get close to them. The park’s old horse-drawn carriages are another exceptional experience. Take a guided tour under the treetops while enjoying a freshly brewed cup of coffee from one of the many coffee scooters. When it’s time for lunch, visit the Deer Park’s restaurants or go to Bakken amusement park for more options.
